The Coimbatore Medical College Hospital will perform a non-invasive procedure called Enhanced External Counter Pulsation ( EECP) to treat angina (chest pain) and heart ailments. ‘Enhanced External Counter pulsation (EECP),’ the procedure does away with the need for hospitalization in heart attack cases. The Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) has become the second government hospital in Tamil Nadu, after Madras Medical College, to get this procedure, CMCH Dean R. Vimala told The Hindu here on Wednesday
EECP THERAPY uses a proprietary technology to inflate and deflate a series of pneumatic cuffs enclosing the lower extremities of the patients. Treatment is administered on a padded table in which three sets of electronically controlled inflation and deflation valves are located.
